I am writing to express my appreciation for the opportunity to work with Conrad Anker in preparation for his commencement address to the Class of 2017 at the University of Utah. I was impressed with his collaborative attitude, his desire to get to know his audience on a more personal level, and his level of preparation. This world-famous mountaineer is surprisingly down to earth. His genuine nature, and wisdom, are as compelling as the stories that living a life on the edge of cliffs engenders. In my role, I write and produce much of commencement every year. It has been my pleasure to hear many wonderful speakers, and watch the reactions of the audience through the camera lens. Not all have engaged the audience in the same way that Conrad Anker does. He skillfully uses both words and visual aids to convey his message and passion.
